As someone who travels very frequently, packing becomes an art. As the name says my bags are always fully packed and as fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg once said “When you figure out your suitcase, you figure out your life.”

When it comes to luggage I have it sorted, I look for three things.

1.Size

2.Durability

3.Style

These three necessities all come together in my  trusty American Tourister luggage.

With luggage, I always say the bigger the better even thought I prep everything before I leave ( see below). My bag also needs to be durable, I travel often so my luggage is put through its paces, its being tossed an a carousel at least once a month. Over and above it all it needs to look good. It need to match my style. When I travel I wear black, so my luggage has to match. Being voted one of GQ’s best dressed men of 2016 my luggage has to go along with the title, the bag and its contents need to by stylish.

I would say that American Tourister has me spot on when it comes to #TravelerTypes. I am the prepper, until I arrive and become the shopaholic.  This video has me spot on https://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_3402800949&feature=iv&src_vid=H8EZIGo-pA8&v=CPxYsUyg_WI

I never have an issue with my suitcase, that’s an easy one, it gets complicated as to what goes in.

Here are my top tips and travel essentials:

My first and most important rule is to plan… this may sound strange, but trust me it helps. Have a little notebook, Spend a few minutes brainstorming and making a packing list for each day. Plan your outfits head to toe and remember that you can always wear trousers again. Always have this little book next to your passport or make notes on your phone or iPad, so when you go away, you will never have any mind blanks and will always remember the correct things to pack.

My list always has these items, they can make multiple outfits and can take you from casual to formal in a moment’s notice

  • A good pair or dark demin’s that can go with anything and everything. Jeans can be dressed up or dressed down.
  • Two white button down shirts
  • A black and a white t-shirt
  • Black trousers
  • A black blazer
  • Black lace up shoes
  1. As soon as you arrive hang your clothes up in the bathroom and put a hot shower on. An easy, and often cost effective way, to get rid of the creases. No hotel laundry bills!
  2. The cables for my computer, iPhone,Ipad, cellphone charger and headphones are all kept in a small bag along with all my travel adaptors. Each cord is wound up and secured with rubber bands, this saves you from untangling a mess.
  3. No matter where I go and when I go, I always travel in black. Try wear all black when traveling, black jeans, blazer and t-shirt, it always looks smart, and if your luggage goes missing you have standards to keep you going.
  4. Have Essentials in your hand luggage, yes this may sound stupid but people forget It’s always best to be prepared for the worst and let’s face it, sometimes bags go missing. Make sure all your valuables are in your hand luggage and always pack a spare change of clothes in your hand luggage too, just in case the worst happens and your checked bag is lost/delayed. That way you won’t have to rush to the shops as soon as you arrive to buy replacement clothing.
  5.  Champagne on a plane, or any alcohol for that matter, may be glamorous but drink lots of water! Stay hydrated, it helps with jet lag. Most airlines don’t give you bottles of water in economy so buy a bottle of water after passport control and take it with! You can always fill it up at the fountains on-board!

and just remember, never let luggage compromise your style.
